Job Description
Summary:
The Parts Counterperson sells, at retail, parts to all available customers, over the counter, through the shop, or on the phone.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist walk-in customers in selecting required parts, suggest companion requirements, offer specials, and ensure that the customer is exposed to the full product line.
- Pull purchases from stock. If the part is not in stock, determine availability and submit an emergency order if requested by the customer.
- Answer phone calls, providing price quotes and other information. Assist outside sales representatives with their orders.
- Set up orders for daily shipment, delivery, or pick up.
- Assist service technicians in selecting parts needed for repairs in process.
- Order parts not in stock if, after discussion with Shop Foremen, it is determined that parts are needed and will be used upon receipt or that the customer will return for the required repairs.
- Issue credit for parts returned, ensuring that the original invoice, or its number, is available so that purchase and pricing can be verified. Exceptions must be approved by the Parts Manager or Business Manager.
- Replenish assigned inventory daily. Advise Parts Manager when areas of the department are not in satisfactory condition.
- Keep current on new products and product updates.
- 2+ years of experience in parts sales or an automotive dealership parts department.
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Must be authorized to work in the USA
- Must be willing to undergo pre-employment compliance requirements: Drug testing, background check, MVR.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous Ford dealership experience
Compensation (Draw plus commission/bonus):
- OTE (On-Target-Earnings): $48,000 - $72,000 + / year
- If meeting or exceeding store quotas and goals
*The Parts Counterperson Position has a Pay Scale consisting of the following elements and ranges. Wages include Monthly Draw plan of one thousand and six hundred dollars a month. The position may also pay commission compensation which is based on the value or amount of parts revenue department achieved from $0.00 (if no sales are made) without any upper limit other than sales performance. The position also may also pay a production bonus based on individual or team performance that may range from $0.00 (if baseline benchmarks are not met) without any fixed upper limit*
Schedule:
- FULL-TIME
- Monday through Friday from 8am - 6pm
- Saturday rotation from 7am-4pm
- Off Sundays
- Weekend availability required
