Job Description

Lead RPA Developer

POSITION OVERVIEW

As a key member of Sonic’s Center of Process Excellence (CoPE) the Lead RPA Developer will be the technical authority responsible for the overall architecture and development of Sonic’s Intelligent Process Automation (IPA) solutions. This leadership role will be a “player/coach” working closely with the business and technical teams to design, develop, test, and deliver quality solutions. The Lead RPA Developer will report to the CoPE Solutions Delivery Director.

Job Duties                                                          

  • Leads IPA development teams whether internal or third-party supported

  • Defines IPA development methodology and testing practices / standards

  • Leads the IPA design authority to define and monitor the delivery method and design principles by which IPA is implemented

  • Enforces IPA design principles and standards for developing and executing IPA code

  • Collaborates with UiPath vendor resources on technology and software considerations

  • Responsible for providing guidance on the required infrastructure to the infrastructure team

  • Participates in the COPE automation evaluation and prioritization process to recommend when IPA software is suitable

  • Assists in the collection and documentation of solution design requirements

  • Translates business requirements to design IPA solutions in accordance with UiPath leading practices and design principles

  • Participates in process optimization reviews as a key step in the design process to ensure successful implementation

  • Identifies and communicates risks associated with process automation candidates

  • Participates in peer review of solution designs

  • Leads the development of IPA solutions using agile methodology

  • Builds and tests automation processes including integration and unit testing

  • Develops reporting and exception handling based on automation requirements to track performance and quality metrics

  • Works closely with business analysts to support business process owners during user acceptance testing

  • Responsible for compliance with formal change control and defect management disciplines

  • Provides support during production deployments, smoke testing, and performance testing

  • First level of support during testing and hypercare/warranty period of solution implementation

  • Supports investigation and remediation of production level issues

  • Supports skills transfer by mentoring newly trained resources on best practices and development techniques

  • Defines the IPA learning path for IPA developers

  • Contributes to the IPA program development including governance, methodologies, and procedures to continually improve rapid delivery of quality solutions

  • Serves as a leader in the IPA delivery team to provide technical guidance when formulating long-range development plans

  • 5-10% travel required

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS 

Minimum

  • 3+ years RPA development experience in UiPath

  • 5-10 years of industry and development experience

  • UiPath Certified Advanced RPA Developer (UiARD) certification

  • Advanced knowledge of RPA solutions, approaches, methodologies, and development lifecycle

  • Experience working with a relational database, preferably SQL Server

  • Advanced experience with APIs and Data Integration

  • Proven ability to produce effective, innovative solutions on an enterprise scale

  • Experience leading the configuration, development, testing and deployment of automation solutions

  • Experience with Agile project delivery methods, tools, and concepts

  • Understanding of formal change control and defect management disciplines

  • Strong leadership, partnership, and communication skills

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related discipline

  • Experience providing production level support
