Job Description

The Service Porter is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized service shop while supporting technicians and shop operations. Duties include cleaning and maintain floors, equipment, work areas, tire and parts storage, managing waste and fluid spills, keeping supplies stocked, assisting with shop organization, and promptly reporting safety or equipment concerns. Also performs general shop support duties as assigned by management.

Rate of Pay; $ 15-18 / hr - Full Time 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe repair shop throughout the workday.
  • Sweep, mop, and remove trash from work areas as needed throughout the day.
  • Safely clean up oil, coolant, and other fluid spills as they occur; operate the Zamboni as needed.
  • Empty waste oil containers and dispose of materials in accordance with OSHA, environmental, and company safety regulations.
  • Clean and maintain shop equipment and tools, including the tire and wheel area.
  • Clean the brake machine daily and remove shavings from the floor and equipment.
  • Keep walkways and work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards; operate the Zamboni as needed.
  • Help maintain and organize tire storage, parts storage, and scrap areas.
  • Clean and maintain AST oil rooms and immediately report any oil spills to the Shop Foreman or Manager.
  • Organize, stock, and maintain shop supplies and inventory.
  • Clean and sweep all corners and areas of the shop.
  • Sweep underneath technician toolboxes when appropriate.
  • Sweep behind technician toolboxes when appropriate.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment for technicians and other shop personnel.
  • Follow all OSHA and company safety policies and procedures.
  • Wear safety glasses at all times.
  • Wear cut-resistant gloves when appropriate.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, spills, equipment concerns, or other safety issues to the Shop Foreman or Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Shop Manager or Shop Foreman.
