Annual Salary Range:
$150k-$250k Based on performance
Job Description
The General Sales Manager ensures that the dealership meets its unit sales quotas and gross profit objectives on a daily, monthly, and yearly basis. S/he will accomplish these objectives through planning, organizing, coordinating, and measuring the activities of the New- and Used-vehicle Sales Departments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop monthly vehicle requirements projections and establish unit sales, gross profit, and departmental profit forecasts.
- Conduct individual forecasting sessions with each salesperson to establish objectives for customer volume, closing percentages, prospecting efforts, and projected income.
- Meet daily with salespeople to review results and plan daily activities.
- Conduct sales meetings and provide on-the-job training for sales staff.
- Recommend to the Dealer procedures for advertising, sales promotions, staffing needs, compensation plans, and customer complaint resolution.
- Maintain balanced inventory and establish programs for moving vehicles over 90 days (new) and 45 days (used).
- Ensure salespeople follow established prospecting programs and that all prospects receive personal follow-up.
- Review monthly commission sheets, productivity reports, and profit performance by salesperson and department with the Dealer.
- Maintain standards for displaying, merchandising, and maintaining all vehicles and demonstrators.
- Implement and monitor Factory Standards and programs to achieve 100% Customer Satisfaction.
- Conduct and document ongoing safety training and hazard assessments within the sales department; ensure employees follow all safety policies and report accidents immediately.
- Communicate staffing needs to the recruiter.
- Must be legally and technically able to safely operate Company and customer-owned vehicles.
- Must be insurable by Company insurance carrier.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
- High school diploma or the equivalent.
- Two years of automotive sales experience.
- One year in a dealership management position.
- Excellent communication skills. Excellent managerial skills.

- All applicants must be able to demonstrate ability to pass pre-employment testing to include background checks, MVR, drug test, credit report, and valid driver license
