Job Description

The Internal Service Advisor is responsible for coordinating all repair and reconditioning work for dealership-owned vehicles, including used car reconditioning, warranty repairs, and internal service requests. This role serves as the primary liaison between the service department, parts department, sales department, and technicians to ensure efficient workflow, accurate documentation, and timely completion of internal repair orders. The Internal Service Advisor helps maintain high standards of quality, cost control, and operational efficiency throughout the service and reconditioning process.

  • Drive the RO process from open to close — fast, accurate, and fully documented.
  • Coordinate repairs for used cars, dealer-owned vehicles, and internal requests.
  • Communicate clearly with technicians, parts, and sales so everyone knows what’s happening and when.
  • Control costs and ensure all work meets dealership standards before releasing vehicles.
  • Track every vehicle through the recon pipeline and eliminate bottlenecks.
  • Keep the shop moving by prioritizing work and balancing technician loads.
  • Support service leadership with updates, reporting, and process improvements.
  • Previous experience in automotive service, repair order management, or dealership operations.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle systems, general repair processes, and service terminology.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced shop environment.
  • Proficiency with dealership management software (CDK, SIMS, Dealer Track, etc.)
  • Experience as a Service Advisor, Internal Writer, Warranty Administrator, or Used Car Coordinator.
  • Honda or import-brand dealership experience.
  • Familiarity with Honda warranty, recall procedures, and factory repair guidelines.
  • Strong ability to balance cost control with repair quality and safety.

Required:

  • All applicants must be authorized to work in the USA.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • All applicants must be able to demonstrate ability to pass pre-employment testing to include background checks, MVR, drug test, credit report, and valid driver license.

(The Internal Advisor Position has a pay scale consisting of the following elements and ranges. Wages include Base Hourly Compensation. The position may also pay commission compensation which is based on the value or amount of closed repair orders achieved from $0.00 (if no sales are made) without any upper limit other than sales performance. The position also may also pay a production bonus based on individual or team performance that may range from $0.00 (if baseline benchmarks are not met) without any fixed upper limit.)
