Job Description
The Parts Counterperson sells parts at retail to customers and provides support to dealership departments.
- Assist walk-in and phone customers in selecting parts, suggest companion products, offer specials, and ensure exposure to the full product line.
- Pull parts from stock and determine availability; submit emergency orders as requested by customers.
- Process orders for daily shipment, delivery, or pick-up; manage "will call" and "back order" files weekly.
- Assist service technicians in selecting parts for repairs and open repair order envelopes for new orders.
- Order parts not in stock after consultation with Shop Foremen; notify both the Shop Foreman and customer upon receipt.
- Process charge-outs by verifying technician presents duplicate repair order and parts requisition; file requisition in repair order envelope.
- Issue credits for returned parts with proper invoice verification; ensure charge-back sales are customer-signed.
- Process tax-exempt and cash sales with accurate customer information and account tracking.
- Handle credit card transactions and declined payments in accordance with dealership guidelines.
- Maintain clean and organized front and rear counter areas; replenish assigned inventory daily.
- Keep current on new products and updates; participate in all training programs and Lost Sale Tracking initiatives.
- Operate company and customer vehicles safely; follow all safety policies and immediately report accidents to management.
- Be friendly, professional, and efficient when working with all customers and dealership departments; maintain professional appearance and wear dealership uniform at all times.
- One year of automotive parts department and sales experience.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and follow instructions.
- Strong customer service skills and ability to manage multiple customers simultaneously.
- Professional appearance and willingness to wear dealership uniform.
- Authorization to work in the USA and valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass pre-employment screening including background check, MVR, drug test, and credit report.
