Job Description
The Benefits Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day operational and data support aspects of benefit programs, including program and data analysis, payroll file validation and transmission, employee transaction validation, and teammate communications. Areas of responsibility include the full range of health and welfare plans. Salary Range: $50,000 – $57,000 + 7.5% quarterly bonus.
Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service support to teammates and HR managers regarding benefit inquiries and issues.
- Research data issues and participant escalations; collaborate with vendors to track and resolve issues effectively.
- Analyze and verify vendor data files; identify and resolve discrepancies promptly and in a timely fashion.
- Track and manage employee transactions, including transfers, rehires, and terminations.
- Process Health Savings Account contributions and fundings after each payroll, including reconciliation and audit documentation. Track and resolve contribution discrepancies.
- Process voluntary insurance deductions after each payroll
- Assist in running routine eligibility, dependent verification audits and life event audits
- Audit employee benefit data for accuracy and compliance.
- Audit payroll deductions for accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Life Waiver of Premium tracking, auditing and responding to waiver of premium email requests
- Efficiently execute and prioritize daily time-sensitive tasks and requests in addition to maintaining ongoing projects and processes in a timely and proficient manner.
- Assist in developing employee benefit communication materials for open enrollment, testing the enrollment platform, regulatory reporting, and additional analysis as needed.
Job Qualifications / Requirements
- 1 to 3 years of benefits experience required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, problem-solving, and financial analysis abilities.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills, including the ability to manipulate and reconcile large data sets and identify trends; familiarity with HRIS systems and various reporting tools
- Bachelor’s degree in business, math, economics, or related field preferred.
- Working knowledge of health and welfare program principles and associated legal requirements (ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, etc.).
