Job Description

Summary:

The Collision Center Mechanical Technician will perform mechanical repairs on all makes and models within the body shop environment. This role focuses on diagnosing and repairing mechanical systems on vehicles involved in collisions, ensuring they meet manufacturer specifications before delivery to the customer.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Review repair orders from the collision center and perform assigned mechanical work accurately and efficiently
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues such as suspension, steering, brakes, cooling systems, and drivetrain components
  • Perform wheel alignments and frame/suspension adjustments as needed after collision repairs
  • Replace or repair damaged mechanical parts, including radiators, AC systems, exhaust, and electrical components
  • Collaborate with body technicians and estimators to identify additional mechanical needs during the repair process
  • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to ensure proper vehicle function and safety compliance
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all repairs performed in the repair order system
  • Follow manufacturer specifications, safety procedures, and industry best practices
  • Keep tools, equipment, and work area clean and in good working condition
  • Assist with test-driving repaired vehicles to verify proper operation before delivery
  • Minimum 2+ years of hands-on mechanical repair experience
  • Ability to diagnose and repair suspension, steering, brakes, cooling systems, and drivetrain issues
  • Proficient in using diagnostic tools and repair equipment
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Must be authorized to work in the USA and able to pass pre-employment screenings (background, drug test, and MVR)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of mechanical repair experience in a collision center, reconditioning department, or independent/general repair shop
  • Experience working with multiple makes and models, including GM vehicles (Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, Cadillac)

Compensation (Flat-Rate: Hourly):

  • $18.00 - $25.00 / hour
    • Based on experience, certifications, and skill level
  • Tenure Bonus Program*:
    • Starting at 6 months, earn up to $3.50/hour on every flat-rate hour turned
    • Bonus increases with tenure and is paid annually

Schedule:

  • FULL-TIME
  • Sundays Always Off
  • Saturday Availability Required
