Job Description

The Staff Accountant is responsible for the handling of transactions in multiple sets of books; balancing intercompany accounts; preparing journal entries; performing account analysis and accrual calculations; assisting in the monthly closing process for various companies.  

*** 1-3 years of Automotive Business Office Experience (Preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Perform account reconciliations daily with a focus on mid-month and month end clearing.
  • Billing account reconciliations – Perform accounting maintenance on dealership/store schedules, including New and Used Inventory, Accessories, Payables, and Dealer Trade Receivables.
  • Review and correct all schedule items to remain incompliance with Corporate Policies and Procedure.
  • Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records/files, and reconciling accounts.
  • Reconcile receivable/asset schedules timely and accurately.
  • Post factory statements and follow up on reconciling items.
  • Prepare various governmental filing such as Sales Tax, Tire Tax, Battery Tax, Unclaimed Property and 8300.
  • Maintain active working knowledge of the Banking job duties and provide back-up support as required.
  • Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
  • Generate regular and on-demand reports.
  • Proficient in DMS and Excel.
  • Assist projects relating to the business office on a regular basis.
  • Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done and meet various deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years in Dealership accounting (required)
  • Experience using CDK is a plus.
  • Ability to be self-motivated, with a great attitude and high-energy personality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, particularly excel. Strong attention to detail.
  • Experience working in a multiple-entity environment.
