Job Description
Summary
Philpott Ford is seeking an Automotive Body Shop Technician who will restore and repair vehicles to their original condition, utilizing their technical expertise in automotive body repairs. Responsibilities include repairing damages, replacing parts, and ensuring high-quality standards are met.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Inspect vehicles to determine the extent of damage and required repairs, utilizing knowledge of automotive body repair techniques and equipment.
- Utilize specialized tools and equipment to repair dents, scratches, and other damages on vehicle bodies, ensuring precise and accurate restoration.
- Remove and replace damaged components such as panels, bumpers, fenders, doors, and mirrors, ensuring proper alignment and fitment.
- Sand, prime, and mask vehicle surfaces to facilitate smooth and seamless painting processes.
- Apply paint and coatings using appropriate techniques, including spray guns, to match the vehicle's original color and achieve a high-quality finish.
- Regularly inspect, clean, and maintain tools, equipment, and paint booths to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment, including the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs performed, parts used, and labor hours for billing and warranty purposes.
- Coordinate with other technicians, painters, and service advisors to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of repairs.
Requirements
- 2+ years of collision repair experience - Strong knowledge of automotive body repair techniques, including dent repair, panel replacement, and surface preparation.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively utilize a wide range of automotive repair tools, including dent pullers, sanders, welders, paint guns, and frame straightening equipment.
- Capacity to analyze and troubleshoot automotive body repair challenges, providing effective solutions to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks, manage workloads, and meet repair deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy parts, bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
- Must be ICAR and/or ASE certified.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States and have a valid driver’s license.
- Applicant must willing to submit to pre-employment requirements, to include drug screening, background check, and MVR.
Preferred Requirements
- Familiarity with painting and refinishing processes is desirable.
