About the role

As the Corporate Communications Specialist, you’ll assist with the execution of Sonic Automotive’s internal communication strategy to foster teammate awareness, collaboration, and growth. With 170+ locations nationwide, you have the ability to make an impact on the teammate experience for more than 10,000 teammates through informative and engaging communications across various platforms. This role is a part of the Communications Team and reports to the Corporate Communications Manager.

 

In the role, you will:

  • Assist with the implementation of the company’s internal communication strategy by drafting, reviewing and editing content for internal messages, including but not limited to emails, videos, internal social media posts, newsletters, and other communication items
  • Write and edit articles that highlight teammate career paths, company initiatives, our culture, and overall teammate experience
  • Conduct interviews and collaborate with teammates and internal partners to gather information to support company communications
  • Ensure internal messages are delivered consistently and aligned with the company’s strategic goals
  • Creatively develop content and leverage storytelling to foster teammate engagement
  • Assist with quarterly teammate connection and engagement activities that support our teammate experience
  • Develop, review, and provide guidance on communication and policies for company-wide distribution
  • Partner with human resources, legal, and other operational teams to ensure internal messaging is aligned with teammate programs and policies
  • Provide review and guidance to cross-functional teams on messaging to targeted teams or work groups

 

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

 

At a minimum, you’ll have:

  • 2 – 4 years of relevant experience in communications, public relations, or marketing
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, or related field
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, including experience developing company-wide communications, long-form articles, short-form content, PowerPoint presentations, video scripts, and talking points
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related business and communication tools
  • Creativity developing and publishing short-form, medium-form, and long-form content
  • Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills, as well as a keen attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work on multi-functional teams as well as independently
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing and taking ownership of multiple projects at once

 

It would be a bonus if you also have experience:

  • In a corporate communications role
  • Partnering with C-suite executives
  • Creating content, fostering engagement, and managing the Workplace by Meta employee engagement platform
  • Drafting, distributing, and scheduling messages and email campaigns via an employee communications platform, like Staffbase, Constant Contact, or Mailchimp
  • Utilizing Canva or Adobe Creative Suite to create designs to support communications
