Job Description
Job Summary
The Procure to Pay Accountant will work in the Accounts Payable dept of the Sonic Automotive Shared Services Center. This position will be responsible for completing various accounting functions related to Accounts Payable as assigned by the AP Supervisor. Including the management and preparation of various journal entries regarding centrally billed expenses. This person will work closely with the dealership personnel, suppliers, and SSC teammates.
Essential Functions
• The Procure to Pay Accountant position will have the following responsibilities:
• Propose journal entries for centrally billed expenses to move expenses to dealership books from corporate books
• Assist in preparing the weekly and monthly Ecova and FedEx entries which includes the collaboration with various internal and external partners
• Write and review various SOPs for the Shared Services Center
• Assist in maintaining the centrally billed expenses includes:
• Collaborating with various Sonic Corporate associates to ensure the success of centrally billed expenses.
• Proposing various journal entries and month end accruals
• Preparation of ACH requests
• Communication with dealership and corporate employees to resolve and escalate inquiries
• Assist in other Procure to Pay projects and month end functions as needed
• Monitor the digital disbursements and prepare files to send to the bank and post to the store
• Research and code various refund checks
• Seek out efficiencies that can be gained to help Sonic become more profitable
• Take initiative to seek out new projects and take on a leadership role with said projects
• Ability to deliver excellent customer service
• Builds trust when interacting with others in a way that gives them confidence in one’s intentions and those of the SSC organization
Minimum Qualifications
• Work habits that are customer-centric and committed to exceeding the customer's needs
• Ability to organize work and be extremely detail oriented
• 4-year accounting degree or equivalent experience
• CPA or CPA eligible is a plus
• Experience in a financial accounting or shared services role
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to own a process and bring new ideas to the table
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
• Ability to pass pre-employment testing to include background checks, drug test and credit report
Desired Experience
• Experience in the automotive industry is preferred
• Experience in a shared services environment preferred
• Experience with CDK DMS software
