These dealerships provide numerous services, including sales of new and used cars; sales of replacement parts; vehicle maintenance, warranty, paint, and collision repair services; and arrangement of extended warranty contracts, financing, and insurance for the company's customers.   

Job Summary:
The Finance & Insurance (F&I) Reconciliation Accountant will work in the Sonic Shared Services Center (SSC) and be responsible for maintaining the account reconciliations associated with the warranty cancellation process.  You will have primary responsibility and be the point person for the day to day activities in this work product area for your assigned locations.  The reconciliation function assures that our customer and dealership funds owed are properly accounted for in a timely fashion.   Successful performance of this job is critical to Sonic’s high standards of internal and external customer satisfaction.    This individual will work closely with dealership personnel, suppliers, SSC General Accounting Team, SSC Accounts Payable Team, and the F&I Team.   

Essential Functions:
•    Monitor all General Ledger accounts associated with the warranty cancellation process
•    Research and resolve older items on the reconciliations
•    Meet monthly deadlines to publish reconciliation reports for dealership review
•    Prepare journal entries to correct errors and adjustments found
•    Identify common mistakes that are made and provide feedback to the cancellation team on how to improve the cancellation process 
•    Work with others on the cancellation team to promote continual improvement in the accuracy and timeliness of posting partner statements and reconciliations
•    Monitor dealership warranty account schedules to identify items that should be moved onto the central SSC books
•    Troubleshoot areas and work to increase process efficiency and provide input to help with process automation
•    Ensure all service level agreements are met
•    Assist with other tasks as directed by manager
 

 

Qualifications:
•    Work habits that are customer-centric and a commitment to exceeding the customer’s needs
•    Strong team player with the ability to learn quickly and problem solve in a fast-paced, growing environment 
•    Bachelor’s degree from 4-year accredited college or university; emphasis in accounting/business and/or equivalent work experience
•    Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills that will be used to manage expectations of internal dealer and work with external F&I product suppliers.
•    Excellent planning, organizational and decision-making skills required to accomplish monthly goals as well as address unforeseen challenges that arise.
•    Understanding of accounting relating to F&I products and or other warranties
•    Extremely detail oriented

Desired Experience:
Preference will be given to candidates who understand accounting related to and who have previous experience working with F&I cancellations in the automotive industry.
