F&I Warranty Cancellation Accountant

These dealerships provide numerous services, including sales of new and used cars; sales of replacement parts; vehicle maintenance, warranty, paint, and collision repair services; and arrangement of extended warranty contracts, financing, and insurance for the company's customers.   
Job Summary:
The Finance and Insurance Cancellation Accountant will be responsible for cancelling all finance and insurance products, reconciling all related statements, preparing journal entries, and insuring refunds are processed timely.   This person will work closely with dealership personnel, vendors, SSC General Accounting Team, SSC Accounts Payable Team, and F&I Team.   This position will be located in the Sonic Shared Services Center.
Essential Functions:
•Receive and process cancellation requests•Insure cancellations are made timely and accurately in accordance with SLA’s•Prepare associated journal entries to insure cancellations are properly recorded and all SOX controls are met•Prepare and review disbursement requests to insure all refunds are handled timely•Assist in reconciliation of the F&I cancellations receivable account and F&I cancellations payable account•Research and resolve all questions related to F&I cancellations•Work closely with store personnel, lien holders, and other SSC teams•Troubleshoot areas and work to increase process efficiency•Insure all service level agreements are met•Provide input to help with project automation•Assist with other tasks as directed by manager
Minimum Qualifications:
•Work habits that are customer-centric and committed to exceeding the customer’s needs•Ability to learn quickly and problem solve •4-year degree in accounting/business and/or equivalent work experience•Extremely proficient in Microsoft Excel•Excellent verbal and written communication skills•Ability to work in a Shared Services environment•Understanding of accounting relating to F&I products and or other warranties•Extremely detail oriented
 Desired Experience:
Ideal candidates will be detail oriented, analytical, and have strong communication skills.  Preference will be given to candidates who understand accounting related to F&I cancellations and who have previous experience working with F&I cancellations.
